FAQ

Answers to the questions that actually come up when someone orders these bags: cloth, print, sizes, artwork, minimums, money, timing and what happens if something arrives wrong. Anything still waiting on our side is marked in orange.

Cloth and build

Which of your bags do people start from?

The 12 oz Blank Natural Canvas Tote is the base we print on for most orders: it stands up when loaded and holds a printed line cleanly. The small indigo stripe bag is 10 oz and lower, an errand bag rather than a laptop bag.

Want a bag that keeps its shape when empty? 16 oz cloth, on request from 50 pieces. Full cloth comparison is on Fabric & care.

The natural bags look uneven. Is that a defect?

No. Undyed cotton shows small vegetable flecks, slubs and a slight colour shift between rolls. That is the fabric. If you need an even ground we print on a dyed batch instead — [replace] dyed colour runs start at ___ pieces.

Will it shrink?

Cloth cut from unwashed natural canvas moves a little on the first wash: expect up to 1 cm per piece and up to 3% lengthwise. The washed black tote is garment-washed before cutting, so it arrives matte and slightly worn and will not shrink noticeably later. A hot tumble dryer is what shrinks a bag and cracks a print; cold water and line drying are not a problem.

Is the print going to crack or peel?

Our default is a water-based screen print, which sinks into the cloth instead of sitting on top of it, so it flexes with the bag rather than forming a film. Small runs and photographic artwork go through heat transfer, which does have a light film feel — [replace] the transfer film we use is rated to ___ washes. Embroidery has no wash limit at all.

Is the cloth certified organic, recycled or tested?

Only list what you can send a copy of. [replace] name the certificates you actually hold (OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS, a REACH or CPSIA test report, a BSCI or Sedex audit). If you hold none yet, delete this question as well as the answer – implying compliance you cannot document is the one answer that cannot be repaired later. Buyers in the US and EU do ask for paperwork, so an honest “not certified, but the cloth is [replace] your own description of the fibre content” is a usable answer too.

Size and carrying

What actually fits inside?

The standard 35 x 40 cm body takes a 13 in laptop, an A4 folder and a 500 ml bottle. The small 30 x 32 cm takes two paperbacks, a wallet and groceries for one. Handles are 55 cm on the small bag and 60–62 cm on the others, which is shoulder length. Measurements on Size & fit guide are taken flat, body only.

How much weight can the handles take?

Every bag is double-stitched along the top edge, French-seamed at the sides and cross-stitched at the base, and the handle ends are bar-tacked. [replace] We load-tested one at ___ kg for ___ hours — add your own figure and we will print it here.

Can you change the size, or add a pocket, zip or gusset?

Size is easy: send the dimensions and we cut a one-off pattern. Beyond 40 x 45 cm we widen the handles so the bag still sits comfortably on a shoulder. The washed black tote already carries a 14 x 16 cm inside slip pocket. Zip tops, base gussets and woven labels are quoted separately — [replace] add $___ per bag and the minimum moves to ___ pieces.

I work in inches, not centimetres. Is that a problem?

No – quote your bag in whichever unit you use, and we size from the numbers on the approved mock-up. [replace] state whether your mock-up carries centimetres only, or centimetres and inches side by side. If only one unit appears on it, say which one the workshop cuts to, because that is the figure that decides a dispute.

Your artwork

What file should I send?

Vector (AI, PDF or SVG) is best. A PNG at 300 dpi or higher works if it is black-and-white line art. If all you have is a sketch, a photo or one line of text, send that — we redraw it into clean line art before quoting. File types, colour rules and the size limits are on Artwork specs.

How big can the print be, and how many colours?

One colour is the default, and keeping to one colour is what holds the price down. As a reference, the leaf print is about 12 cm tall and sits dead centre. [replace] Largest single-panel print we run: ___ x ___ cm; second colour adds $___ per bag.

Can you match a Pantone colour?

[replace] Yes on water-based ink. We match against the physical sample rather than your screen; tell us the Pantone in the enquiry and allow ___ extra working days.

What will you not print?

Logos, club and team marks, celebrity portraits, band names, film or game artwork, or another company’s product design — unless you hold the licence and say so. You confirm the rights when you send the file, and the rights stay with you. The full wording is on Terms & privacy.

Can you print on both sides?

This changes the price, so it has to come from your own list before it goes live: [replace] yes or no; if yes, the per-bag surcharge, whether the second side may use the same maximum print area, and whether a back print counts as a second colour for the tier price.

Can I put my own woven label or hangtag on the bag?

A woven label sewn into the side seam is the usual way a resale brand claims the bag. [replace] your woven label minimum (pieces), the per-bag surcharge, the extra lead time label production adds, and whether you manufacture hangtags or only attach tags the buyer ships to you. If you would rather refuse buyer-supplied tags, say so plainly here.

Do you design it, or only print the file I send?

The first concept is what the homepage popup promises, so keep the two pages telling the same story. [replace] how many revision rounds that concept includes, what each extra round costs, and whether a full design built from a description (rather than from the buyer’s artwork) is free or billed.

Can you embroider instead of print?

[replace] whether you take embroidery orders at all. If yes: the minimum quantity, the maximum embroidery area per panel, the per-bag price difference against screen print, and whether a logo under about 4 mm tall is out of scope – embroidery is quoted by stitch count, not by colour, so it cannot share the printed tier table.

Minimums, samples and price

What is the minimum order? Can I mix shapes to reach it?

Steps and day-by-day timing: How to order. One blank bag with no printing. Printed runs start at 50 pieces, and 100 or more is where the unit price really moves. [replace] Whether different shapes and colours can be mixed to reach 50: currently we count 50 per design.

The cart price does not match the tier table on your product page. Why?

It will not. The cart always shows the shop price; quantity tiers are applied on your proforma invoice once we have confirmed the artwork, packing and freight. Runs of 200 and up are a quote rather than a checkout for the same reason.

Can I hold a real sample before the bulk run?

A mock-up and a photo of one real sample bag come back in 3 working days. A physical pre-production sample is [replace] $15, credited back when you order 100 pieces or more, plus [replace] ___ courier.

How do I pay, and when does production start?

By bank transfer (T/T). Place the order and we email a proforma invoice with the amount and our bank details; production starts once the deposit has cleared. Card and PayPal checkout are being set up. [replace] Deposit ___% on runs over ___ pieces.

Can I buy one bag first, or do you hold ready stock?

Buyers ask this because they want to feel the cloth before committing 100 pieces. [replace] whether blank bags ship as singles from stock and what one costs including shipping; whether a printed single is possible as a transfer sample. Delete whichever part is not true.

Is there a screen or set-up fee on top of the unit price?

[replace] the screen fee per colour ($___), whether it is one-time or charged on every re-run, which screens are already cut and therefore free (any colourway you keep in house), and the quantity above which you waive it. If you fold it into the unit price instead, say that here – a buyer comparing two quotes needs to know which line the fee hides in.

What exactly does your quoted price include?

[replace] name the incoterm: EXW (your buyer or their agent collects), FOB (you cover the China-side costs to the port), or DAP / DDP (you deliver to their door, and DDP means you also clear duty). The tier table on Wholesale enquiries is a unit price with no incoterm attached yet, which is the most common way a first-time buyer reads a quote as cheaper than it really is.

Timing, shipping and duties

How long from approving the mock-up to bags at my door?

Production is 7 to 10 working days after you approve the sample photo, then standard worldwide shipping is 5 to 8 working days at a flat $25 (free over $300). So a small approved order normally lands 2 to 3 weeks after the artwork is signed off. Express courier is 3 to 6 working days from [replace] $38 per 5 kg.

Who pays customs and VAT?

You do. Quotes are ex-works, import duty and local taxes (VAT, GST) are paid by the receiver, and we declare the true value on every commercial invoice. Every country applies them differently, so check your own tariff before you order.

Can you ship 500 pieces by sea?

Yes, quoted per shipment. Bags travel folded, one per paper sleeve, 25 to a carton; cartons are 60 x 40 x 40 cm and about 12 kg full, so 500 pieces is 20 cartons and roughly 1.9 CBM. Sea is 25 to 35 days, air freight 6 to 10 working days from [replace] $5.50 per kg. All rates on Shipping & duties are still placeholders.

How many pieces come in one carton, and how heavy is it?

[replace] pieces per carton, carton dimensions, gross weight per carton, and whether a carton may mix shapes or colours. Freight on this site is quoted per 5 kg band, so a buyer cannot compare shipping without this.

How many can you make per month, and how far ahead are you booked?

[replace] your monthly output, the queue you are working through right now, and the largest single order you have shipped. Give a number you can hold in peak season too – a capacity claim that fails in March is worse than a smaller one.

Can you ship to my own forwarder in China?

Resellers with an agent usually want this, and it is cheaper for them. [replace] the domestic delivery address format you accept, which courier or line-haul you use to reach it and who pays that leg, whether you hand over a Chinese-language delivery note with the carton count, and whether tracking stops existing the moment their agent signs.

After the order

Something arrived wrong.

Photograph it first, then send photos within 7 days of delivery. Cracked print, seam failure or a size deviation over 1 cm gets remade or credited. How to claim and where a return goes is on Returns & refunds.

Can I return a bag or get a refund?

Not for custom printing. Bags printed to your artwork are made to order, so a change of mind, a colour that reads differently in daylight, or a size you would now pick differently, is not a return reason: the proof you approved is what we print. Blank bags with nothing of yours on them can go back within 14 days, unused, at your shipping cost. If what arrives is faulty, or it is not the bag you approved, send photos within 7 days of delivery and we remake it or credit you. Cancelling before the deposit clears costs nothing. The full wording is on Returns & refunds.

Will my re-order be identical to the first batch?

Close, not identical. Cotton is a natural product and dyed batches move slightly in shade, so where colour matters order a campaign in one run, or keep a reference bag from the first delivery. [replace] Shade tolerance we hold between rolls: ___.

What do you check before a carton leaves?

[replace] the check you actually run: print placement against the approved sample, handle and seam pull, colour roll match, pieces per carton. Only state an AQL level (for example 2.5) if someone measures to it – buyers forward these words to their own inspectors.

Can I visit, or see my line while it is running?

[replace] whether visits are welcome and with how much notice, whether a non-Chinese buyer needs you to book the trip, and whether you send mid-production photos or a short video, above what quantity.

Not covered here? Send the artwork and the quantity, or read How to order, Artwork specs and Wholesale enquiries first.
